Phthalo Ruth is founded by Brooklyn-based designer Meghan Kreger. Her work explores life’s little luxuries, whether it is a day spent in a quiet café or a night cackling over cocktails with friends. Meghan considers her art prints to be motivational posters that invite viewers to manifest their daydreams, to slow down, and to connect with each other and the world.
Meghan gravitates towards gouache, marker, colored pencils, crayons, and other rudimentary materials out of a desire to reconnect with play. Her approach to artmaking is decidedly unserious, resulting in colorful pieces that speak to the inner child.
With a background in fine art and product design, Meghan launched her business three years ago, hoping to create some passive income while working her full-time design job. Her “Girls Want Dinner Parties” print series had a viral moment in 2023, reaching over one million views and putting her work on the radar. Since then, she has collaborated on apparel and home items with Anthropologie, released a collection of invitations with Paperless Post, and created a line of phone cases and accessories with The Dairy. In 2025, she was featured as a “Cool Friend” in Cool Stuff NYC, a guide to the coolest things happening in New York City.
Through Phthalo Ruth, Meghan continues to celebrate whimsy, connection, and the beauty of life’s simple pleasures.
