The Sticker Book is Revenge!

Not really, but kind of. It's more about how you flip something negative into something positive.

TLDR; The wine industry is currently FREAKING OUT because they can’t reach young consumers. Meanwhile, Tyler’s book, Rebel School of Wine, came out in May 2024 and most of the stuffy wine reviewers would not even accept a free press copy because it was “too colorful and playful” but then the book went on to be the ONLY wine book to get nominated for James Beard Award in 2025, which is basically the Oscars of food and restaurants.

Well, one of the writers who did accept a free press copy of the book was clearly a stuffy old lady and definitely not the audience the book was for. Nonetheless, she wrote a nasty review and called the book “sticker filled” because we had included a single sheet of stickers as part of the press package. Morgan fumed for a week about it so Tyler made a video of Morgan fuming, edited it and we decided to post it on Instagram as a clap back! Something like 100 people said “OMG make a sticker book!” and Morgan sat on it for about 6 months trying to figure out what would be the best solution and then saw another sticker book with multiple artists as inspiration!

Morgan decided the sticker book needed to FIGHT the angry sad woman and the best way to fight a sad world is with JOY! She rounded up all her favorite artists and got to work making the book as fast as possible so it could be around for the 2025 Holidays season.

And here we have it!

About the founders

Morgan and Tyler have been making the world of wine fun for over 20 years with in-person experiences that combine wine with pop culture.

What we REALLY care about is creativity, helping people see it in themselves and in others AND bringing people together in a fun way! We like wine because you can open a bottle and be transported to another time and place. Wine is also a fantastic vehicle for storytelling. Both of these let your creative brain wander.

We started with a wine tasting festival called Wine Riot in 2009, a traveling series of events we hosted for 2,000-6,000 people in 6 cities. We did 50 of these events over 8 years. In 2016 we opened a Wine Retail store in Boston for a hot minute. Then in 2018 we really hit success with our huge interactive experience called Rose Mansion, a 32,000 sqft space with over 25,000 monthly visitors but then we had to close due to the pandemic in 2020. During the pandemic we wrote a wine book called Rebel School of Wine that was nominated for a James Beard Award. Now we are launching the Rose Mansion Wine Sticker Book to meet the moment of play, stickers and hanging out in small groups in more intimate gatherings.

After we lost our business in the pandemic we dusted off a book outline we originally wrote in 2010 but didn't have time to write. Morgan got a literary agent and before we knew it we had a book deal with HarperCollins. It did take Tyler about three years of working full time to write but it was worth it!

Rebel School of Wine is a modern guide to wine and culture by Tyler Balliet, created to make wine make sense again. Published by HarperCollins in 2024 and nominated for a James Beard Award, the book blends history, science, politics, and design to show how wine connects to the world around us. Filled with more than 450 original illustrations by artist Amber Day and art-directed by Morgan First, it positions wine as part of everyday life as fun, smart, and deeply human. Rebel School of Wine is a book for people who love culture first and wine second.

The Culture

Rosé Mansion Was a Magical Place

Rosé Mansion was a 32,000-square-foot wine experience in the heart of Manhattan that combined education, design, and entertainment. Created by longtime collaborators Tyler Balliet and Morgan First, the space reimagined traditional wine tasting through art, color, and play.

The first Rosé Mansion opened in 2018 as a 14,000-square-foot pop-up on Fifth Avenue. Guests explored a series of interactive rooms dedicated to different aspects of wine history, production, and culture—each paired with a glass of rosé from around the world. The experience blended hands-on learning with immersive environments designed for exploration and connection.

Following immediate success and widespread media coverage, Rosé Mansion expanded in 2019 to a permanent 32,000-square-foot location on 32nd Street. The new space featured two bars, sixteen themed rooms, and a restaurant. Over the course of one year, more than 225,000 guests visited, generating $15 million in ticket sales and private events.

In January 2020, we secured funding to open additional locations in other cities. Two months later, in March 2020, we were forced to close for the Covid-19 pandemic. By August of the same year, we were forced to close for good.

Rosé Mansion became one of the most talked-about wine experiences in the country, recognized for making wine culture accessible, joyful, and shareable. The project received national press coverage from outlets including Good Morning America, CNN, Forbes, Fast Company, and The New York Times.

Although the physical space closed in 2020, Rosé Mansion continues to inspire new projects from its founders that combine art, wine, and storytelling for a new generation of wine drinkers.
