Mimi Moffie (she/her) is Nina Alberg, a Caribbean artist and illustrator who brings colorful, joyful worlds to life. Her work celebrates being a woman, self-advocacy, and community, with creations that range from children’s books and coloring books to book covers, sticker books, and more. Whether digital or traditional, her art invites you to play, laugh, and feel seen.
Mimi’s imagination is deeply tied to her island home, where the vibrant architecture and cultural richness constantly inspire her. Even her name, Mimi Moffie, comes from local oral history. Add in a childhood love of Jem and the Holograms’ The Misfits, and you get her signature style; bold colors, whimsical details, and stories that uplift and empower.
At the heart of Mimi’s work are joy, rest, sisterhood, justice, and the power of saying no. She wants her art to feel like a soft place to land, a reminder to slow down, embrace whimsy, and feel affirmed, while also making it clear that justice, representation, and dignity belong in art just as much as they do in everyday life.
Her portfolio includes collaborations with HarperCollins, Penguin Random House, and others. Most recently, she illustrated I Love Me from A to Z: A Body Positive ABC Board Book by Emily Lauren Dick, published by Familius in February 2025.
Above all, Mimi hopes her art sparks imagination, offers comfort, and reminds people, especially Black women and girls, that their stories and dreams matter, and that they are, unapologetically, dope as hell.
