Julia Walck
Julia Walck is a Collage Artist and Designer based out of Los Angeles, California. She works with collected vintage magazines and ephemera to create playful, maximalist collages. The intersection of analog and digital is her happy place as she often cuts and pastes directly onto paper, and also Photoshops scanned collections of imagery on the computer. Throughout her compositions, Julia explores feelings of abundance, graphic styles, negative space, and conceptual ideas. Infused with humor and bright saturated colors, Julia's work aims to bring FUN to everyday life.
With over thirteen years of experience, Julia has worked in the start-up, corporate and freelance sectors of the design world as both a Designer and a Design Director where she collaborated with and led in-house marketing design teams. She has licensed artwork to brands like Urban Outfitters, created editorial illustrations for the likes of Women’s Wear Daily, partnered with Adobe on their mentorship program, and designed bespoke artwork for clients including BentoBox, Daily Disco, ban.do, Givingli, Maya Brenner and more.
A goal of hers is to make art accessible and FUN. Julia hosts collage workshops where she teaches you how to collage, and even encourages you to cut up her vintage stash of magazines!
On a typical day off you can find Julia at the flea market, antiquing, playing pinball, swooning over vintage signage, checking out programmatic architecture, or taking photos in a vintage photo booth.
Whatever she’s currently working on, it’s probably colorful… there may be disco balls… and it will most definitely be FUN.
